ROUTE OF PORTONOVO

Portonovo is the main fishing town of Sanxenxo. A must see is the incredible fish market of Portonovo where we will enjoy seeing the vibrant fish and seafood market in action.

Visit the marina and the fishing port of Portonovo. Take a walk along the beach of Baltar and the sand dunes. Why not finish the day in its famous street of wine. There we can all enjoy the best Galician wines accompanied with delicious “tapas” of seafood.

 

ROUTE OF THE ISLAND OF ONS

To get to the island of Ons you can take a boat from the port of Sanxenxo (sale of tickets in the port next to the car park) and Portonovo (sale of tickets in the port next to the roundabout which is in front of the fish market). For this route we recommend comfortable shoes and sun cream.

The national park of the Atlantic islands of Galicia is made up by Ons, Onza and a group of very small islands. The island of Ons is the biggest; its beaches are incredibly beautiful and other perfect place to sunbathe on the fine white sand next to the crystal clear waters.

In the western zone the country side conforms of great cliffs battered by the fury of the sea, surrounding by wild grottos that have an extraordinary beauty.

 

 

 

 

 

ROUTE OF THE ISLANDS OF CIES

The islands of Cies are found in the province of Pontevedra and it is possible to arrive by boat from the ports of Vigo, Cangas and Baiona. For this route we recommend comfortable shoes and sun cream.

Considered a natural paradise nicknamed by Ptolomeo as the islands of the Gods, they are in the heart of the RiasBaixas, and they formed part together with the archipelagos of Ons, Sálvora and Cortegada, the national park of the Atlantic islands. The beautiful countryside of this national park is made up of breath taking cliffs, paradise beaches, sand dunes of great beauty and its rich deep waters are ideal for practicing diving.

 

THE ROUTE OF THE MILLS OF MEAÑO

This route has a network of labyrinth forest paths, in a radius of 25 km, some of them can be done on foot and others by bike. It has several short and long paths depending on what we choose, and they take us through the forest zone of the region and for a beautiful coastal walk. Among its routes we should highlight the views of the petroglyphs of the nearby mount Castro that were carved in stone approximately 1500 years B.C.

Another very interesting church is the church of Saint Mary ofSimes, from the XIII century, with a roman façade and a baroque tower, or the church of Saint JohnofMeaño.  From the church of SaintBieitoofLoreswe can see four beautiful “rias”. The valley ofDorrón, from which we can admire the most beautiful countryside, a stone cross where we can find a panoramic of the coast, the mouth of the “rias” of Pontevedra and Vigo and the breath taking islands of the national park of the Atlantics islands.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 ROUTE OF COMBARRO

The historic-artistic ensemble of Combarro has 30 “horreos” of masonry. This beautiful and typical fishing village possesses a magnificent historic quarter in a perfect state of conservation, dating from the XVIII century.

Combarro is a recognize tourist destination and it is said that absolutely all the Galician painters have tried to capture the beauty of its house, the labyrinth of cobbled streets, its “horreos” and its marvellous sunsets together with the typical boat resting on the sand. It is a must see to enjoy the delicious fresh seafood of Combarro.

 

ROUTE OF RIBADUMIA AND MEIS 

This route is considered the route of Stone and Water, located in the region of OSalnés, it is a hiking route that starts in the roundabout of the Castaños in Barrantes, a famous place for its wines and it is situated on the banks of the river Umia.

We can enjoy the beautiful countryside, the itinerary takes us along the banks of the river where we find fences, wooden seats and beautiful restored stone mills, passing by magnificent bridges like the bridge of Pontearnelas , that it is also known as the bridge of the Padrinos. It was reconstructed in the XVIII century according to the testimony of the shield inscription.

 

THE ROUTE OF THE WINE

 The denomination of origin RiasBaixas extends for the wide territory of western Galician.

The wine route of RiasBaixas is traditionally associated with the wine Albariño, as this the dominant wine in the region of Salnes. As part of the denomination of origin of RiasBaixas we have the wines of Soutomaior, the Condado and BajoMiño, made from the varieties ofAlbariño, Loureiro, TreixaduraandCaiño. The tourist determines their route choosing what wineriesthey want to visit enjoying the countryside of wide areas of vineyard, as well as its important and rich historical and cultural heritage.
